Technical Report Writing and Presentation Skills
Overall Goal: To develop participants' ability to transform complex data and information into clear, concise, and decision-oriented technical reports, with the skill to present them effectively to management and stakeholders.

- The Art of Report Planning: Before Writing a Single Word
- Analyzing the target audience (Manager, Committee, External Party) and defining the report’s primary objective (to inform, persuade, seek approval).
- Building a logical (hierarchical) structure for the report that serves the objective and meets the reader’s needs.
- Gathering and analyzing only the data and information relevant to the goal.
- Writing Content with Clarity and Impact
- Principles of technical writing: Simplicity, Accuracy, Objectivity, Coherence.
- Using clear and concise language, and avoiding unnecessary, ambiguous jargon.
- Writing a strong Executive Summary that conveys the objective, findings, and recommendations in 60 seconds.
- Visual Design to Facilitate Understanding
- Converting complex data into clear graphs and tables (choosing the right type of graph for the data).
- Using formatting (headings, spacing, bullet points) to enhance readability.
- Applying the “Skimmability” principle, allowing the reader to grasp the main idea at a quick glance.
- Reviewing and Improving the Draft
- Self-review techniques to eliminate linguistic and factual errors.
- Seeking feedback from colleagues (“peer review”) to improve quality.
- Ensuring consistency of terminology and information throughout the entire report.
- Presenting the Report with Transparency and Confidence
- How to prepare a presentation that complements the report, rather than reciting it verbatim.
- The art of storytelling to present findings and recommendations in an engaging and persuasive manner.
- Managing Q&A sessions and responding to challenging questions with confidence.
