Diagnostic Analysis of Training Needs

From Requests to Scientific Impact Measurement

day 1
Beyond Training Requests: Understanding Real Performance Problem Sources
    • Content: Why do many training programs fail? Introduction to the “Triangulated Gap Analysis Model” integrating: 1) Organizational performance data, 2) Task and competency analysis, 3) Expectations of stakeholders (managers, employees).
    • Activity: Analyzing different scenarios to determine if a problem is a “skill gap” needing training or an “organizational issue” requiring other solutions.
day 2
Advanced Diagnostic Tools: From Surveys to Field Observation
    • Content: Applying advanced data collection tools like carefully designed Focus Groups, Task Analysis, and Work Process Interviews.
    • Activity: Designing two different data collection tools for a hypothetical training situation.
day 3
Data Analysis and Strategic Prioritization
    • Content: Analyzing extracted qualitative and quantitative data; using an “Impact-Priority Matrix” to rank needs based on strategic importance and ease of address.
    • Activity: Workshop to analyze a hypothetical dataset and decide on training priorities.
day 4
Formulating Training Objectives with Measurable Impact (Impact Mapping)
    • Content: Translating analysis results into clear, specific training objectives. Using the “Impact Map” technique to link training activities to improvements in work behavior and ultimately organizational results.
    • Activity: Formulating an impact map for a proposed training program based on a conducted needs analysis.
day 5
Evaluating Training ROI and Strategic Reporting
    • Content: The advanced Kirkpatrick model for training evaluation; introduction to calculating Return on Investment (ROI). How to prepare a strategic report that convinces top management of the value of investing in training.
    • Activity: Preparing a draft evaluation report for a hypothetical program aimed at decision-makers.

Overall Objective: To develop participants’ capabilities in conducting accurate and in-depth training needs analyses that distinguish between symptoms and root causes of performance problems, linking them directly to strategic goals and the ability to measure return.
